Being absent at the November 28, 2007 meeting, Commissioner Evans was required by parliamentary procedure to receive support from one of the dissenting voters in order to place the motion back on the agenda for reconsideration.  Commissioners Kearns and Simasko declined, but Commissioner Quain consented to having the motion revisited.  How did they vote this time, after amending the proposal to 1.5%?

In 2006, the council passed a two year resolution increasing their pay and allowing for a 2% increase effective Jan, 08.  Current pay is $19,707 for the chairman (Evans), 16,961 for vice chairman (Wall), $15,863 for four committee chairmen, $15,313 for remaining.  In addition, they receive full medical coverage for their families ranging in cost betwee $11,000 and $13,000 per year.  They are paid a federal mileage rate for the distance from their homes to the county building for 40 meetings per year.  They can quality for retirement by serving 8 years. Personal Services for the Commissioners is budgeted at $205,256 for 2008, or $29,300 per Commissioner. Commissioners Anger and London were replaced by Commissioners Simasko and Quain, respectively, and in this lame duck session the only dissenting vote was Commissioner Kearns.
