"Possibly I lost faidth that politicians in high places who do not have to endure war's savagery will ever stop bludering and sending others to endure it." This quote of commander Eugene Sledge, 5th Marine, September 1944, Philippines from Ken Burns' "The War".
So here we are 63 years later and those politicians that would be President continue the same course as those before them. Their actions by their voting records and their campaign rhetoric give us no assurance that fewer deaths or combat injuries will cease in Iraq or Afghanistan. Some who say they object are the same that vote to fund the war, others stay the course through their actions and votes.
Although the scale of World War II and the current conflicts are hugely different in size, the valor of our soldiers is unquestionable. Yet, unfortunately, many will come home with life altering injuries or for buriel.
So whom is the candidate for President who is ready to set him or herself apart from the mistakes of nearly a century?
