Dear People of Acheson Ventures,
You
have sparked much positive development on the Southside, with housing projects,
seaport, and festivals. But what is
going on with the
Port Huron
post office having to move? Jim
Acheson has done good things for the Southside, but when your group {from the
CSX deal?} acquired ownership of the land under the post office, why would you
want to move it? {I’m assuming the
U.S.
post office didn’t already have plans & taxpayer funds in place to build
a brand new facility close by.}
Mr. Acheson, and
many others are commendably tying to bring new life to this area, but think for
a moment. What place, right
now, brings the most people, from all walks of life, north & south, on an
almost daily basis, to the Southside? Isn’t
it the
U.S.
post office? It is the central hub
of routine activity. Lets not make
the mistake of moving it out to some township as if it were a jail.
Please let me know what your thinking on this is, and what you would
propose for a Desmond Landing that would keep this venerable mail delivery
facility central in our community. Thanks
for your consideration.
Yours truly,
Michael McCarthy PA-C
